Fortnite Season 4 arrives: the servers are down and the iOS update is now live

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, Fortnite Season 4 is finally here. The servers are down, Season 3 is over, and the iOS Season 4 update is now live on the App Store.

Even if you don’t play on an Apple device, the update is still worth taking a look at, as it gives you a sneak peek at what those comets are all about.

In the patch notes there’s a section that talks about ‘Hop rocks’ that are fragments of the comets which once consumed give the player anti-gravity powers. That’s right, no more destroying high structures to get over them.

Holding out for a hero

There’s no confirmation yet about the DC hero theme that the previous teasers have pointed towards, but anti-gravity certainly fits in with the world of superheroes, and heroes are very much in the spotlight at the moment so we’d be very surprised if the theme ended up not being in some way spandex-inspired.

We don’t have any news about exactly how long the servers are going to be down for – the official Fortnite Twitter page just has info on when the downtime starts, not when it ends.

Previous downtimes have been a few hours, but we’ve no idea the total scope of this update, so it could be considerably longer. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear of the servers going live again.
